Metro Transit is giving Twins fans more reasons to take transit to the ballpark this season.
Among the most transit-friendly major league ballparks in the country, Target Field is served by the METRO Blue and Green light-rail lines, as well as multiple local bus routes and the Twins Express with non-stop bus service from the I-394 & County Road 73 Park & Ride in Minnetonka. The Northstar Commuter Rail Line will serve each home game and Northstar Link provides connecting bus service between St. Cloud and Northstar's Big Lake Station.
Fans who take transit to Target Field will be dropped off at or near stadium entrances, avoiding the hassles of parking and summer road construction. Light rail and Northstar trains bring fans directly to the newly-expanded Target Field Station, where festivities will be held throughout the season.
For fast and efficient boarding before and after games, fans riding the METRO Blue or Green line, Northstar or Twins Express are encouraged to purchase round-trip fares in advance online. Fares purchased in advance allow fans to travel up to three hours before and after each game, providing additional time to enjoy pre- and post-game activities.
Discounted fares are available for seniors and children. Northstar customers can also save money by purchasing a Family Pass. College students can purchase discounted game tickets and ride to the ballpark for free each Wednesday.
Fans are also invited to show their team and transit pride by taking a selfie while riding transit on their way to Friday night games this season. Fans who post their photos to Twitter with the hashtag #BallparkRide will be entered to win an autographed baseball at the game that evening.
Trips to Target Field can be planned using Metro Transit’s online Trip Planner, available at metrotransit.org/tripplanner. Transit experts can be reached at 612-373-3333. Full details on service and fares is available at metrotransit.org/twins.
Metro Transit is a service of the Metropolitan Council. Customers boarded buses and trains operated by Metro Transit more than 84.5 million times in 2014.
